understanding your Creative Process

You’ve probably heard the quote: β€œlogic takes you from A β†’ B, but imagination takes you anywhere” many times before. Albert Einstein (allegedly) said it, so it must be true, right? Spoiler alert: I think it’s true.

It sounds promising: using this β€˜IMAGINATION’ to go β€˜ANYWHERE’. Doesn’t it? But what the famous quote doesn’t quite capture is one obvious fact: this second line is a lot longer, chaotic, and messy than the first one …

I. The tragic myth of the suffering artist

Ironically, very quickly all this freedom starts to feel oppressive. After all, we’ve all learned (from Spiderman) that great power comes with great responsibility. Is it not? So, your mind goes: β€œSure I can go anywhere, but where β€˜should’ I go? Where do β€˜real’ artists go? Damn, they make something amazing. I will never be able to do that. I don’t have their talent.” And that … is when your magical fountain of inspiration gets blocked. We waste time overthinking. And our opportunity to create becomes a burden.

II. In the mind of your fellow creatives

So, are all creatives destined to be miserable while creating? Of course not. Have a look! Click the brain to discover how they cope.
